Tell it to the poor little devil I found in my garden. It appears he ran afoul of a Cordyceps fungus.

oh god the cordyceps fungus, my greatest fear is a version of that that infects humans and then we're talking evil horror movie stuff.

That fungus might be the coolest thing I've seen in a long time, although I doubt this guy in the picture would agree.

But dang. A parasitic fungus that grows out of the bodies of insects? That is really cool, and I had no idea it existed. And on some level, I'm glad it does.

one type of cordyceps is harvested & used in herbal supplements in humans as an immune booster. it's been used in chinese medicine for hundreds of years.
