WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

In my last post, [info]razz wondered what I wear when I'm trekking through a swamp. Such speculation gives rise to good fun, so I've made up a doll upon which you, dear reader, may project your imagination. So let's have it, me darlings: What would I wear in a swamp? In space? At the bottom of the sea? In a desert? In the year 1720? In the year 2564? At the South Pole? On Fire Island? On safari? At the supermarket? On tour with David Bowie? As a superhero? On a pirate ship? Would I wear a pair of custom stovepipe trousers? A cape? A helmet? Is there an outfit you'd like me to try? You are hereby invited to start your pixels, and dress me up!

Whimsy in his suit for exploring the depths of memory.
It's just a very quick sketch, nothing special. (I love this topic!)

I have no drawing skills whatsoever, but obviously if the swamp in question is in the tropics, one would be wearing a Solar Topee, an ensemble in khaki with plenty of pockets, putees and stout boots.

Oh, jeesh, I truly wish I were more artistically inclined now! And I'll admit, I did go in search of an online "fashion plates" type of game to see if I could put together an outfit after you posed the challenge in your other post! If I can pixel something together, I'll gladly post it here!

I have all the fashion sense of a blindman in the dark, so please bear in mind this took me only 40 minutes and is purely a concept.

My starting point was British hunting/country garbs. I wanted a more eccentric version of that, whilst retaining the practicality.

Wellington boots are a must for the swamp (I think the Americans call them "gum boots"), The trousers would be based on Czech folk trousers, made of heavy cotton. The shirt and waistcoat would be camo of the sort above. The design of the waistcoat is an aerial photograph of a swamp I found on google maps. However, Id want to replicate that image with different threads and textures as opposed to just having it printed on, which would look cheap.
The boar-cap is fantastic, I want a boar-cap.

And to the right is a poncho made of moss. Unfortunately, you cant have living clothes, so some kind of synthetic replication would be required. It'd have to look real or at least decent or I'd scrap the idea.

Ha hah--it's wonderful! Very well conceived. I'd actually wear that.

I love the idea of using aerial photography in that way, and of course I love the pagan overtones in the boar cap and moss cape. Bravo!

Been thinking about how one might employ a fern motif...

Dear Lord Whimsy,

On the subject of fashion, what do you make of breeks? Can a gentleman of leisure hope to sport a pair without attracting the attention of John Bull, so to speak? I ask my question here for I've found nothing about the subject in your journal.

From a new fan,
Alon
