Attention New Yorkers: Portland's Seyta Selter, Duchess of Form, and Lady Ellen are partners and proprietors of the made-to-measure men's haberdashery Duchess Clothier. They are coming to New York on the 11th of November and are now taking appointments at the Gershwin Hotel on November 12 & 13. I ordered my suits last week, so now it's your turn.
Duchess specializes in a wide range of vintage styles--Victorian, Edwardian, 30's classics, 60's mod, 70's glam, etc. A very wide range of cuts, vintage materials, and details are available--from the dignified and fogeyish, to the snug and sleek. And the best part? It's very affordable.
If you know anyone who might be interested, please spread the word. If they're good enough for Mr. Crispin Glover, they're certainly good enough for the likes of you!
This will be their first foray into New York. You may want to be quick about making an appointment, so drop them a line. More information on Duchess is behind the cut below, or you can simply download this pdf instead.
An additional item: Seyta and Ellen will also be attending this years' Nov. 11th meeting of the Corduroy Appreciation Club at the venerable Montauk Club in Brooklyn. I am this year's keynote speaker, pontificating on the subject of dimensional duds. Stop by and say hello. ~W

The Duchess makes a grand suit!
I commissioned Ms. Seltier to help me create a suit that "looked as though I had gone to Hong Kong on vacation 30 or 40 years from now, and came back with a suit", and she outdid herself. I'll never buy a suit anywhere else. - mhAnonymous

Drumming up some sales
Have you considered posting news of this event on the Ask Andy About Clothes and Style Forum forums? I just searched both archives and I dont think either forum knows about Dutchess. There are some right picky bstrds on each who might reflexively poo-poo the whole thing, but I think most readers would be interested. Now if Dutchess would just come to Backwater, North Carolina....

Re: Drumming up some sales
Duchess' clientele tends to skew young and/or arty, but if you think there are people on those boards that might be interested, by all means, please spread the word on those forums! Not very well-acquainted with those forums. I haven't checked in on that Andy forum in such a long time that I can't even remember my password, or if I'm even registered.

Someday, so help me, my fellow will be wearing one of their pieces.
Along with something from John Helmer Haberdasher, as well.
