BAT HOUSE
Made this bathouse Friday with cedar, using the downloadable pdf plans posted here as a general guideline. Came out reasonably well. Used vinyl staircase matting as roof material, which should repel water nicely. Didn't want to nail it to a tree, so I devised a way where I could hang it by chain. I spent dusk standing in my back yard to see what the native population of bats might be like, but I certainly didn't expect to see as many as I did. I could actually hear them inches from my ears as they swooped about the boughs. With luck, I should have tenants within the next couple weeks.
